Guild Wars 2 Item Upgrade
Item upgrade, also known as "upping," improves an item's stats. Each upgrade increment increases the stats linearly.
Players can recycle up to six items at once to gain an ability to gauge the level of each of the item's upgraded components. The cost of recycling a piece of equipment increases depending on their rarity and level.
Upgrade components
In Guild Wars 2, an item upgrade is a way to increase the stats of your weapon and armor. This can be accomplished through a variety of methods such as using upgrade components or increasing the rarity of an item or its mark level. A lot of items can be reforged to boost their value.
Upgradeable items can be found all over the game, both around the world and as rewards for missions. They can also be created by players. The main way to upgrade gear is through the use of upgrade components which are the items that can be inserted into equipment. Most equipment has upgrade slots, and many require a certain upgrade level. Some upgrade components provide specific bonuses, while others offer general bonuses.
There are a variety of upgrade components available in the game, including universal upgrades, inscriptions and jewels. Universal upgrades, like gems and enchantments, are able to be put in any equipment type and provide smaller bonuses than those that are equipment-type specific to the type of equipment. Glyphs can only be found in gathering tools. They offer a variety of bonuses, from increasing the speed at which an item gathers to providing additional crafting materials.
Select the item in your inventory, and then open the Upgrade window. The preview will be displayed on the right-hand side of the screen. It will show the expected stats after the upgrade. The Upgrade button at the bottom will show blocked if you don't have enough of or.

The upper-right corner shows the number of upgrade components needed for the specific item. The cost of an upgrade increases with the level of the upgrade and its rarity, however it can be reduced by many different methods, such as buying upgrades from a retailer or trading them to other players.
Almost all weapons can be upgraded using the use of a prefix upgrade like an insignia or a rune, and many can be upgraded with a suffix upgrade. These upgrades can be used to add an adjective to the item's name for example "Radiant" or "Minor Vigor".
Glyphs
Glyphs can be used to convey information via visuals. They are animated to grab the attention of the viewer and entice curiosity. The animation of glyphs mimics the body language, making them more effective in transmitting a linguistic barrier-crossing message. Glyphs can also trigger a feeling of familiarity in the brain, increasing retention of the message.
Each glyph comes with a range of values that it could improve a stat by according to the item when you open the glyph in the Glyph Storage or when you use them to enchant an artifact. This range is not the actual amount at the glyph can increase a stat, but the maximum amount it can do so. The value of the glyph will depend on the tier and quality of the product you are enchanting.
The majority of upgrade components inserted into items can't be removed or replaced without dismantling them except for legendary equipment and upgrades. If you have a rune or glyph you don't want to use, but it hasn't been applied to gear yet, you can transfer the item to another piece by using the Upgrade Glyphs menu within the Glyphs Panel. This will create a new Glyph Set with the selected glyph.
You can remove a glyph by using a Black Lion Salvage Kit, or an Ascended Salvage tool. The item will be destroyed within which it is placed but you will be able to salvage the upgraded item by using the glyph and its fragments, therefore it should not be considered a loss.
If you take an item off after adding a glyph, the shards that are part of that glyph will disappear. You can also apply the glyph to your equipment to give it an extra benefit. Deferred Damage, for example, can store damage and then be dealt out slowly to the wearer rather than all at once. This is helpful for players who are taking a lot of damage from enemies, but do not want to be overwhelmed.
Reroll tokens
Reroll tokens allow players to change the affixes of their equipment and weapons, and they can be obtained in various ways, including in mistery boxes, as rare drops from skulled creatures, or even from killing bosses. Each reroll gives the player an affix randomly chosen and generally better than the one they had prior to. Reroll tokens are also a great method to reroll the stats of a weapon that can be upgraded for better damage or other perks.
Rerolled items are not listed in the menu of upgrade options, but they can be upgraded. If upgrade item click the "upgrade button", you can recycle the recycled items. This will change the design of the item's window and let up to six items to be selected for recycling. The level gauge is boosted by recycling an item. The amount is determined by the item's rarity and its level, therefore higher-level items are more valuable to recycle than lower-level ones.
Players can also use Reroll Tokens and Star Remnants to roll rerolling weapons to upgrade units. Rerolls will roll a % chance of a weapon's traits. If it rolls higher, then the weapon is upgraded. If it is lower the weapon is left as it was. Weapons can be repeatedly rolled up to three times.
A reroll is a good option to upgrade an item, however, players should be aware that it could reduce the overall ilvl the weapon due to the number of rerolls needed to raise it to the final level. This effect of lowering is most effective on Diadems and ring items, which have no other options for raising ilvls.
Players have complained that the reroll system is too expensive. It would be fairer to allow people to pay for it with cash or food items that will allow them to make changes to their builds without having to invest excessive amounts of time. However the paid rerolls aren't something that the developers would like to implement at this point in the game's development. Instead, they're planning to add an ability to change races in the future.
Leveling
There are many ways to upgrade an item. The first way to level up an upgrade to an item is by increasing the upgrade amount. This boosts the value of an upgrade for a stat. The second option is to increase the effect of the upgrade, which can increase damage or healing for an individual stat. The base item can be upgraded to an advanced upgrade type. The upgraded item will maintain its iLevel, but will be upgraded to reflect the effects of the upgraded item.
It is crucial to remember that upgrades are not guaranteed. In most cases a better roll is based on the glyphs. However there are occasions when a greater or special roll could occur. The item type will also determine the iLevel. If you upgrade a unique or rare item to a specific item type, then it has a chance of gaining an additional level.
Upgrades can be expensive, especially if you are upgrading your equipment from the standard track to the legendary. The cost of upgrading an item will be contingent on its base iLevel as well as the number of levels to upgrade. In addition, some upgrade tracks require crests in order to reach the next upgrade level.
If you're lucky, your upgraded item will be at the highest level of its upgrade track and gain an additional benefit. This will provide the item with a significant upgrade value. The bonus effect will vary with each upgrade level though. In general the upgrade effect is increased by a value of +3.
The iLevel also changes according to the upgrade path and its base level. For example the weapon that has been upgraded from a rare or unique item to a rare or exceptional item is likely to get the enhanced defense of the new base type of item.
